ADV TRIBE - Founded 2018 - Mumbai, India
Born on
Indian Roads.
23 years of riding. 23 years of camping. Mumbai to Ladakh and back. Nepal. Bhutan. The North East. Most states of India slept under canvas from a motorcycle. ADV TRIBE didn't start in a boardroom - it started beside a tent, on a mountain road, with a wrench and a problem that nobody else was solving.
The gear didn't exist.
So we built it.
In the early 2000s, if you wanted serious adventure touring accessories for your motorcycle in India, you had two options: compromise, or import. Dipesh Shah - biomedical engineer, serial entrepreneur, and a rider since before most of his peers had licenses - chose neither. He started modifying his own Royal Enfield Thunderbird, fabricating custom parts in his garage, solving problems one ride at a time.
In 2018, after two decades of riding across India, Nepal, and Bhutan - a 45-day solo ride through Spiti, Ladakh and Zanskar, a 105-day solo expedition through the North East, camping across most states of India, and a lifetime of building gear that the market simply wouldn't provide - Dipesh founded ADV TRIBE with a single mandate: bring world-class adventure touring products to the Indian market, designed specifically for Indian roads, Indian conditions, and Indian riders.
Not adapted from European specs. Not overpriced imports. Products built from the ground up by people who actually ride - tested on the trails, passes, and river crossings that define adventure motorcycling in this country.
The Road
So Far.
The Bike That Started It All
Dipesh gets his Royal Enfield Thunderbird and immediately takes it camping. What begins as weekend rides out of Mumbai quickly becomes something more serious. The Thunderbird goes everywhere a road will allow, and many places it won't. The camping kit grows. The frustration with what is commercially available begins in earnest.
The Campfire Where It All Connected
Dipesh begins doing overnight motorcycle camping rides around Mumbai - into the Sahyadri ghats, along the coast, into the forests. Short runs, one night out, back by morning. On one of these overnight rides he meets Gaurav Jani - a fellow rider, out on the trail for the same reasons. They stay in touch.
Ladakh - with Gaurav's Help and Guidance
With the help and guidance of fellow rider Gaurav Jani, Dipesh rides to Ladakh for the first time. Around the same time, Gaurav is documenting his own solo motorcycle journey from Mumbai to Ladakh as a one-man film unit - a project that becomes Riding Solo to the Top of the World. The film wins the National Award for Best Documentary and multiple international awards, with Gaurav later invited as a guest speaker at the Overland Expo in Flagstaff, Arizona.
Spiti, Ladakh, Zanskar and Kashmir
On his Royal Enfield Thunderbird, Dipesh completes a 45-day solo camping ride through Spiti Valley, Ladakh, Zanskar Valley, and the Kashmir Valley. Living out of panniers and a tent for 45 consecutive days in high-altitude terrain is an education no classroom provides. Every piece of gear that fails, every improvised fix at altitude becomes product knowledge that will shape ADV TRIBE more than a decade later.
The Garage Years
Unable to find quality adventure accessories in India, Dipesh begins modifying his own motorcycles and fabricating custom parts for himself and fellow riders. Sourcing components from the USA and Europe, he builds what the market won't provide. Word spreads through the riding community.
Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh Tours
Dipesh collaborates with Gaurav Jani on the Ride of My Life motorcycle tours (rideofmylife.in) - organised rides to Ladakh and Arunachal Pradesh inspired by Gaurav's two films: Riding Solo to the Top of the World and One Crazy Ride.
The 30th Birthday Ride
To mark his 30th birthday, Dipesh embarks on a 105-day solo motorcycle expedition through North East India. The route: Mumbai, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Nepal, Bhutan, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Myanmar, Manipur, Nagaland, and Arunachal Pradesh. His machine: a custom-built motorcycle with a 550cc Royal Enfield AVL CDI engine and suspension from a Honda XR650 - fabricated specifically because no production motorcycle could handle the route he had planned.
23 Years. Three Countries.
After riding across India, Nepal, and Bhutan over two decades, the accumulated experience becomes a blueprint. Every failed component, every improvised fix, every piece of kit that didn't survive a monsoon - all of it becomes the foundation of a product philosophy built entirely from field experience.
ADV TRIBE is Founded
The garage becomes a company. ADV TRIBE launches with a founding principle unlike any other accessory brand: we buy the motorcycles, we go on the rides, we identify the problems, then we build the solutions. No guesswork. No spec sheets from a desk. Products born entirely from the road.
KTM 390 Adventure - A New Chapter
As the KTM 390 Adventure transforms Indian adventure riding, ADV TRIBE becomes the first Indian brand to develop a comprehensive, purpose-built accessories range for the platform. The products sell out. The waitlist grows. The tribe expands.
Moto Camping and the Tribe Grows
ADV TRIBE expands beyond hardware into the full adventure lifestyle - moto camping gear, cookware, trail essentials. Drawing on 20 years of personal camping experience across India, Dipesh builds the range from the ground up. The brand begins running DIY Camping Rides, bringing riders together in the wild. Andharban. Dark forests. Night skies. The product becomes a community.
3,200+ Riders. Still Going.
Over 3,200 verified riders across India now trust ADV TRIBE gear on their machines. From the Himalayan passes to the Western Ghats, from Spiti to Coorg - ADV TRIBE accessories are on the road, in the field, earning their keep on every kind of terrain this country has to offer.
How We Build.
Ride First. Design Second.
Every ADV TRIBE product begins with a motorcycle purchase and a ride. We don't design from a brief - we design from experience. If we haven't felt the problem on a trail, we don't claim to have the solution.
Minimalist. Modular. Purposeful.
Our design philosophy rejects complexity for its own sake. Every component earns its weight. Every bracket serves a function. If something can be removed without compromising capability, it doesn't belong on the bike.
Made in India. Built for India.
Indian roads are not European roads. Our monsoons, our mountain passes, our river crossings - they demand different solutions. Everything we make is engineered specifically for the conditions you actually ride in.

// The Founder
The Engineer
Who Rides.
Dipesh Shah is a biomedical engineer by training and a serial entrepreneur by nature. But above everything else, he is a rider. His first major journey - Mumbai to Ladakh and back at age 20 - set the course for everything that followed.
Over the next two decades, he rode across three countries, camped across most states of India, completed a 45-day solo ride through Spiti, Ladakh, Zanskar and Kashmir, and a 105-day solo expedition through North East India on a custom-built machine - because no production motorcycle could handle the route he had planned.
ADV TRIBE is the natural conclusion of that journey. Not a business plan - a rider's answer to a problem that had gone unsolved for too long.

Gear That Earns
Its Place.
Every ADV TRIBE product has been on a real ride before it reached your hands. We don't sell gear we haven't tested. We don't design for showrooms. We design for the road - the rough one, the wet one, the one that doesn't appear on any map.
