ADV TRIBE Explorer Series
Lost Roads of the Sahyadris
Monsoon Explorer Series
Three days on rain-drenched ridgelines, old trade routes, and village roads through the Northern Sahyadris. Small group. Rider-first planning. No shortcuts.
The Sahyadris in monsoon are not comfortable. They are alive.
This is not a leisure tour. The Northern Sahyadris in July and August are wet, loud, and genuinely impressive. The roads range from national highway to village track. The views, on the days the clouds lift, are the kind that make you stop the bike and just stand there.
Three days. Two nights. A route that connects Kasara Ghat, the Bhandardara region, Naneghat, and Malshej. Planned stops, deliberate distances, and a group small enough that no one gets left behind or loses the group in the rain.

Northern Sahyadris, Monsoon 2026
Rider-Run. Practically Planned. Nothing Wasted.
Every ADV TRIBE ride is planned by riders for riders. The routes are scouted. The stops are timed. The group size is set for actual operational control, not for revenue.
Dipesh Shah has 20+ years of moto-touring across India, Nepal, and Bhutan. He has ridden the Sahyadris across every season. This route was built from that experience, not from a travel agent template.
Every route segment scouted and timed. No guesswork on day of departure.
Single-file movement throughout. Lead sets pace and calls stops. Sweep rider closes the group. No rider ahead of the lead, no rider behind the sweep.
Small group. Consistent pace. Every rider knows the protocol before the start.
10 Riders. That Is The Limit.
Ten riders is not a marketing number. It is the maximum group size at which a single lead rider can maintain effective oversight on narrow monsoon roads, keep stops short, and adjust pace without the group fragmenting. Above ten, coordination overhead kills the ride experience. Below five, the shared energy that makes a group ride worthwhile disappears. Three batches. Ten slots each. That is it for Monsoon 2026.
Same Ride. Your Choice of Room.
The riding experience and route are identical across both categories. The difference is your room at the end of the day.
Three riders per room at Wilson Valley Retreat and Umbartha Resort. Shared spaces keep the evening conversations going and cut the per-head cost. Best suited for solo riders joining the group.
Most popular choice
Two riders per room. More personal space and quieter evenings for those who want to recharge after a long day on the road. Ideal for couples or riding partners booking together.
Same full ride experience
Prices are inclusive of applicable taxes. Personal ride expenses are excluded.
Key Moments on the Road
The route connects six distinct segments of the Northern Sahyadris. Each has its own character in the monsoon.
Kasara Ghat and Igatpuri Belt
The opening climb from the plains into the Ghats. Winding tarmac, mist at the top, and the first real sense of entering the hills. Sets the pace and tone for the ride.
Ghatghar KonkanKada and Samrad
The cliff-face at KonkanKada is a serious drop into the Konkan. In the monsoon, the views shift between dramatic clarity and full cloud cover. Worth every kilometre of approach.
Ratanwadi and Muthkhel Loop
The approach to Ratangad Fort passes through one of the most lush valleys in the Northern Ghats during the rains. Village roads, green hills, and low traffic through a genuinely beautiful section.
Wilson Valley Retreat to Nanegahat Via Ambit Dam, Paachnai and Fofsandi
A longer interior riding day from Wilson Valley Retreat toward Naneghat via Rajur, Wajunlshet, Ambit Dam, Paachnai, the Fofsandi Caves side, Phophsandi and Muthalane. Expect forested village roads, wet patches, slower riding rhythm and monsoon-fed roadside run-offs before the night halt at Umbartha Resort, Ghatghar.
Naneghat Pass
One of the oldest mountain passes in the Sahyadris. Historical trade route now a monsoon riding destination in its own right. The overnight base at Umbartha Resort puts you directly at the foot of the pass.
Malshej Ghat Return
The final section. Malshej in the monsoon is a different road to any other time of year. Waterfalls on both sides of the road, the distinctive smell of the valley, and the long descent to Kalu Balu Dhaba, Wanjale to close the ride.
Meeting Point
National Highway 3, Asangaon, Taluka, Shahapur, Maharashtra 421601
All three batches depart from the same point. Riders should be at FoodHub Restaurant, Asangaon by 8:00 AM. Parking guidance and pre-ride briefing details will be shared with confirmed riders after booking. The guided ride concludes at Kalu Balu Dhaba, Wanjale on Day 3. Riders disperse independently from Kalu Balu Dhaba onward.

The Itinerary
Every segment is planned. Every stop is deliberate. Here is what the three days look like.
- Wilson Valley Retreat > Lavhalwadi > Ghatghar KonkanKada > Samrad > Ratanwadi > Muthkhel > Wilson Valley Retreat. Approximately 60 km of village roads at around 15 km/h average pace.
- KonkanKada cliff-face viewpoint. Ratanwadi and Muthkhel village roads through the valley.
- Loop execution depends on weather, visibility, road conditions, and group pace.
- Interior riding day from Wilson Valley Retreat toward Naneghat through the Akole and Harishchandragad side of the Sahyadris. Fuel stop at Rajur. Mostly internal village and forest roads. Plan for a long riding day at deliberate pace.
- Route through Wajunlshet, Ambit Dam, Paachnai, the Fofsandi Caves side, Phophsandi and Muthalane. Narrow village roads, small hamlets and forest sections around the Harishchandragad belt.
- Fofsandi is a route landmark, not a cave exploration stop. Expect wet tarmac, changing visibility and a route that feels genuinely remote.
- Lunch stop at Hotel Nomad Resto And Bar, Padali. Riders pay directly.
- Night halt at Umbartha Resort, Ghatghar. Sets up the Naneghat side of the route for Day 3.
- Malshej Ghat in the monsoon. Waterfalls on both sides of the road, dramatic cloud cover, and the scent of the valley.
- Guided ride concludes at Kalu Balu Dhaba, Wanjale. All riders disperse independently from Kalu Balu Dhaba onward. Onward travel to Mumbai, Pune, or other destinations is at each rider's own arrangement.
- No overnight on Day 3. Departure from Umbartha Resort after breakfast.
