Who is this trip best suited for?
Travellers who enjoy long scenic road journeys, mountains and offbeat routes. The group departure is designed for the 20 to 55 age bracket, keeping the long drives, high-altitude terrain and overall pace in mind. You do not need to be extremely fit, but you should be comfortable with long road journeys, walking, changing weather and altitude. It is not recommended for senior travellers or for guests with limited mobility. 3 Miles Ahead can plan a customised itinerary in those cases.
What documents and permits do I need?
Certain restricted areas around Tawang need permits. 3 Miles Ahead arrange the required permits, and travellers must provide the necessary documents within the stipulated timelines. An Aadhaar card is compulsory for the Tawang permits. Carry your original government photo ID throughout the trip, keep a digital copy as a backup, and bring a few recent passport-size photographs for permit formalities. This particular group departure is currently not recommended for foreign nationals, as some routes and areas may remain restricted even with the right documentation.
Is the Kaziranga safari included, and what happens if it cannot run?
Yes. A Jeep Safari at Kaziranga National Park is included in the trip price, subject to the park's operating schedule, availability and applicable regulations. Safari operations depend on weather, park regulations and forest department decisions, all of which are outside the operator's control. If the safari cannot run for any of those reasons, 3 Miles Ahead will assist with the best possible alternative where feasible, and the safari component is non-refundable in that situation.
Which meals are included?
Breakfast is included on all days of the trip. Other meals and personal expenses are at your own cost. Vegetarian meals are easily accommodated, and vegan, Jain or other dietary requirements can be arranged on special request, subject to availability and what the hotel or restaurant can offer. Share allergies and dietary needs in advance through the pre-trip information form.
When should I book my flights for?
Airport pickup and drop are included as per the planned itinerary. Arrive at Guwahati Airport on day 1. Book your return from Guwahati on day 7.
Which mobile network works best on the route?
Airtel postpaid generally gives the most reliable coverage on the Tawang route. Jio works in most locations, though strength varies with terrain, so a postpaid connection is recommended. Some stretches such as Chumi Gyatse can have limited or no network, and coverage is generally better in and around Tawang town. UPI works in larger towns and ATMs are available at key locations, but carry sufficient cash as a backup.
